Welcome to Acorn Counseling PLLC. I was trained at St Mary’s University and graduated in 2006. I learned Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) in 2014, and I love working with clients to meet their goals.

Our Mission

We are an independent, non-government-related company providing space for your creativity and mental health work facilitated by Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Christian counseling is available upon request.

I am happy to work with individuals with whom I believe sessions can be helpful in meeting the clients’ goals.

Fees

Individual 53-minute sessions are $160 (+$30 for Complex Interactions) when billing insurance and are due at the beginning of each session. Private pay rate is $120. Cash or personal checks to Acorn Counseling PLLC, debit or credit cards are acceptable for payment. There is a $30 fee for returned checks.

Please note that fees are subject to change and negotiated before payments are due. Clients or Guardians are responsible for full payment of fees, regardless of insurance company policies. Clients are responsible for notifying this office when their insurance changes and following through with their insurance account adjustments. Consistency is an important part of the counseling process, and the appointment time that you schedule is reserved for you; it is not available to anyone else.

Once an appointment has been scheduled, you will be expected to pay for it unless you provide notice of cancellation at least 24 hours in advance or were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control. Messages received on my answering system are acceptable for prior notice. Sometimes it may be necessary for me to reschedule an appointment, and I will make every effort to contact you in advance to do so.

A fee of $60 will be assessed for missed, no-show, or short-notice cancellations that are unavoidable.

I will not accept any gifts.

I am a member of the EMDR (Therapy) International Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, and the Texas Counselors Association.

Christian Counseling

I am often asked two questions:

Am I a Christian, and why is the company called Acorn? I am happy to work with people from all walks of life who want to feel better about themselves, their lives, and live peacefully with their families.

I have been a Christian for almost 30 years, and I continue growing along the journey. I’ve been inspired by nature and see little seeds, like acorns, growing into big trees that feed the forest. It is a privilege and honor to walk along your journey with you.

I don’t have all the answers, but I believe in our ability to collaborate on defining the problems and finding solutions. Let’s explore it together. Prayer and bible references are available upon request.

Cash-payer discounts and receipts for filing with your insurance company are available upon request. Please call (830) 981-5330 to see if your company will provide benefits. I am a provider for the listed insurance companies: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon, CuraLinc, EverNorth/Cigna, Humana, Medicare, and Tricare.
